Project Overview
AEI were successfully awarded these project works by DDR/Duratec (the builder) on behalf of the Department of Defence at HMAS Cerberus and was completed in early 2023. This particular nationwide roll-out project involved the upgrade of the ADF’s chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defence capabilities at various strategic defence sites across the country. Each facility required new dedicated power & lighting infrastructure including civil (pit & pipe) works, electrical sub-mains, distribution switchboards, external LED floodlighting and customised power bollards for specialised training equipment.
As a part of this project, AEI were required to modify the facilities existing site main switchboard so that new electrical sub-mains could be installed for the new fire training equipment. In order to work in with defence’s fully loaded training schedule for its recruits, a coordinated approach between the client/builder and extensive communication was required to meet the targeted program and ensure a successful delivery of the project.
One of the main challenges with this project was the longer than expected lead times for custom manufactured electrical equipment, including switchboards, power bollards and light poles. In this case, AEI was able to outsource and utilise it’s vast range of industry suppliers and network contacts and fast track the manufacture and delivery of key items for this project.
