Puckapunyal LED Lighting Upgrade (2022-23)

Australian Electrical Industries were proud to be involved in the design, implementation and delivery of this large scale lighting upgrade project at Puckapunyal Military Area.

AEI were engaged by Ventia (Estate Infrastructure Managers) on behalf of the Department of Defence. In order to meet the ever growing need to reduce carbon emissions, the client (Ventia) sought a solution to replace existing lighting infrastructure with new high efficiency LED alternatives.

As a part of this project, AEI were required to conduct a thorough ‘pre-installation lighting audit’ so that a realistic lighting solution could be achieved, while at the same time meeting a strict criteria for lighting performance and client specific needs. This also eliminated the risks for incorrect lighting installations as well as confirm fitting access and lighting control arrangements.

The project involved careful logistical planning and communication with key stakeholders in a highly sensitive environment. AEI’s collaboration with suppliers, site management and installers ensured the project was delivered withing the given 12 month timeframe. The project itself resulted in some 12,500 light fittings upgraded, 15,630 fluorescent and HID lamps recycled, 46 tonnes of metal recycled, significant reduction in future emissions and lower any on-going maintenance costs.
