Project Overview
In early 2021 Australian Electrical Industries were successfully awarded the contract by Ventia (Client) to replace the existing UPS system batteries in both K-Block & H-Block at Victoria Barracks Melbourne. Due to the sensitive nature of the environment, careful planning was required to avoid any unlikely power disruptions to the sites critical IT infrastructure.
With the existing UPS batteries systems having reached their anticipated ‘end of life’ cycle, AEI were tasked with job of both sourcing and replacing each of the 800No. batteries throughout the site. This project required highly skilled technical staff to complete the isolation and changeover works as well as extensive logistical planning due to the size, weight and location of the battery systems. Each of the batteries removed were carefully decommissioned, re-packaged and sent off site for recycling and re-purposing as required.
On completion of works, AEI were able to provide a fully re-commissioned and compliant UPS battery system with detailed test results confirming each of the batteries performance capabilities.
